Local Community Officer; Suffolk and south Cambridgeshire

Posted 13 days ago

Exploring beautiful places with like-minded people to champion special buildings.

The Local Community Officer will work with the communities around 26 churches, making new contacts and strengthening existing relationships with supporters to help these special buildings thrive as visitor attractions and venues for events.

Our sites have special history and architecture, so sharing their story is a big part of the role. They also rely on supporters making the best of them, through tea parties, concerts, displays, housekeeping and day to day admin. Many are still used for services, but they have also found uses as diverse as circus performance spaces, music recording venues, yoga gyms and even a drumming club!

Clubs, societies, universities, businesses and neighbours need to know their LCO, so we’re looking for candidates who live within or near the geographical area covered by this role, who can make the most of creative relationships to bring a plan for each church together.

This post is supported by specialists, so you don’t need a background in historic buildings or churches. Instead, it represents a fantastic opportunity to get to know nearby communities and facilitate their interest in using these wonderful places, while helping to raise funds to support the conservation of these ancient buildings.

Closing date: 9am on Monday 17th June

Interview:  24 June 2019
