Evaluation and Learning Manager

We’re recruiting for three posts to expand our Learning and Strategy Team at an exciting period for Comic Relief. Moving forward we will work to tackle the root causes of poverty and social injustice not just through our grants and investments but through everything that we do as a creative agency for social change.
As an Evaluation and Learning Manager you will play a key role in helping us drive better change, developing evaluation and learning across a range of different investments and grant portfolios and pushing the use of that learning into our decision making and those of our partners. The role will be diverse, from supporting organisations we fund to improve their monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) capacities and approaches, to leading evaluation and learning across portfolios of grants and investments, to developing internal learning about the influence our own approaches to funding and support of organisations has on the social change we want to see. You will need to be able to work closely with others across teams to ensure our learning remains relevant, timely and useful for the organisations we fund, for our partners and for Comic Relief.
All three posts will cover a mix of larger and smaller portfolios, but two of the posts will have a stronger focus on leading the MEL for initiatives co-funded by institutional donors such as DFID, whilst the third post will primarily deliver MEL for our work funded through money raised from the public. All three roles will support both UK-focussed and international-focussed work so we would value experience from either the UK charity sector or the international development sector and a willingness to work creatively across both.
You will have expertise in developing, implementing and evaluating MEL frameworks and approaches and supporting others to do so, from community to institutional levels. You'll also be passionate about learning, with an understanding of what this means for a grant maker. You will be an effective communicator; be able to demonstrate strong planning, strategic thinking and decision-making skills and will have good negotiating abilities.
