Join our Communities team …
Your horticulture and community outreach skills will enable us to tangibly increase our impact and profile in communities around RHS Garden Wisley and across the South East. With a track record delivering horticultural training, workshops and skills, you will also have an understanding of community development and consultation.
The RHS has been the force behind gardening for more than 200 years. Our charitable work is diverse and includes connecting millions of children, young people, adults and families with nature through our campaigns Greening Grey Britain and Campaign for School Gardening; supporting RHS Britain in Bloom, Europe’s largest community gardening campaign, and conducting pioneering horticultural scientific research. We believe everyone in every city, town and village, should benefit from growing plants to enhance lives, build stronger, healthier, happier communities and create better places to live.
We want to enrich everyone’s life through plants and help make Britain a greener and more beautiful place.
Our Community Outreach Team is recruiting a new post based at RHS Wisley. As well as supporting community growing projects in the South East, you will work with our Senior Community Outreach Advisor to help deliver and shape a new programme to respond to the needs and interests of new audiences local to Wisley Garden. To achieve maximum impact for the new programme, you will help us build strong relationships with external partners and internal teams across the RHS.
If you are a passionate about community engagement through growing, a professional horticulturalist with experience inspiring communities new to gardening and the next generation of gardeners then this is the role for you.
Experience of working with community organisations, volunteers, young people, children, families and schools is essential. With excellent communication and reflective skills and the ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with stakeholder organisations you should have experience of training and a qualification in practical horticulture (minimum of Level 2).
