Head of Tram House School

BeyondAutism is a registered charity dedicated to launching lives through education and training, and the appointment of Head of Tram House School is a vital one that comes at an important time in the development of both the charity and the schools it runs.

The charity has made the strategic decision to split Rainbow School and register two schools in its place from September 2017 – Tram House School (14 – 19 years old) and Park House School (4 – 13 years old). This change has also brought about the redevelopment of the Tram House site into a specialist environment with dedicated age-appropriate facilities for those with autism, a project due for completion in September 2017. Both schools remain independent, non-profit day schools registered with the Department of Education as Approved Independent Special Needs Schools.

In BeyondAutism’s Schools, each pupil achieves by accessing an education underpinned by an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behaviour (VB) approach to teaching. The Schools give each pupil an individual curriculum tailored to their needs within the framework of the National Curriculum and their progress is monitored using VBMAPP, ABLLs, AFLs, on-going formative assessments and their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

BeyondAutism will expect candidates to demonstrate a combination of strong leadership whilst appreciating the ethos and values of the charity, reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the governing body. As an active member of BeyondAutism’s Senior Management Team, the appointed candidate will work in partnership with the Head of Park House School. Responsibilities include day to day leadership, ensuring the highest possible quality of education, being a designated safeguarding lead person, developing positive relationships with outside agencies, maintaining and building on pupil numbers and providing the highest standards of professional leadership, vision and strategic direction.

The ideal candidate will be able to motivate and inspire staff, pupils and parents to strive for excellence, be an excellent team leader, team builder and team member, have first class interpersonal and communication skills and be excited by the opportunity to be an ambassador for the school.
