Major Funding Manager
Posted 3 months ago
The Major Giving Manager will join a dynamic and enthusiastic team to manage funding from major donors, primarily for the capital fundraising campaign for national science, learning and public engagement facilities at RHS Garden Wisley.
Major transformation is taking place at Wisley. For over 100 years it has been the home of horticultural science and learning, benefitting gardeners across the UK. But to reach more people we need to modernise our facilities and the way we do things so we are investing in a new National Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning. It will have learning studios to attract more secondary schools, state of the art science facilities to research more pests and diseases, science and gardening libraries and a herbarium to store and share our internationally important collections. It will have a spectacular atrium to share our knowledge with visitors through exhibitions and demonstrations and stimulating new learning gardens to showcase planting for wildlife, health and wellbeing, and food. The much-loved Arts and Crafts-style Laboratory building will also be revealed in a setting suitable for its heritage status, and the public will be able to access new exhibition space in this iconic building.
The RHS has an enviable network and has cultivated relationships with many of the Trustees and Executives of some of the biggest funding bodies in the UK, as well as individuals through the established Fellows programme. This is an established position, with clear plans, pipelines and a volunteer board in place and 40% of a £12.8m target has already been secured or pledged. However, there is plenty of opportunity to shape the direction of the plans to achieve the funding targets.
It is an exciting time to join the RHS and the role offers a major donor fundraiser the chance to make significant progress in securing funding from established contacts as well as developing new networks to secure funding from new sources.
